Research Opportunities

In the Yan Lab, we work at the interface of physical and biological sciences. We encourage students and researchers from all disciplines who are interested in membrane biophysics to apply to our group. If you want to contribute your own expertise and expand your skill set in the areas of non-linear laser spectroscopy, molecular biology, organic synthesis, surface sciences, tissue culture, membrane protein expression and biochemistry to solve problems related biomembranes, our group is for you.

Graduate students: If you are prospective students from all Yale departments, we welcome you to visit and rotate in our lab. If you are interested in joining our research group as a graduate student, you need to apply to our graduate program and you may write to Elsa Yan (elsa.yan@yale.edu) for opening of graduate research assistant positions in the group. For more information about the graduate program, please visit:

Undergraduate Students: We welcome undergraduate students from different departments to join our lab. Currently, we have undergraduate researchers from Departments of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, and Chemistry. We also welcome students from the MARC, SURF and STARS programs. If you are interested in joining our research group, please send an email to Elsa Yan (elsa.yan@yale.edu).
