M.C. Escher -Drawing
Hands - (1948)- The original on the left has a right and left
hand creating a chiral arrangement. Its mirror image is on the right.
The Escher drawing and its mirror image is no different from the
equilibrium of cis-1,2-dimethylcyclohexane (below). The hands rise
out of the paper and exchange places in the same way that the methyl
groups function in the chair interconversion.
